To get you started with your first scrapbook layouts, here are some walkthroughs to help develop your skills.

Cousins

I did this scrapbook page for a ‘trade out’ scrapbook page for my aunt and uncle and their children.

They live in Colorado and when they visit, we always mail each other a scrapbook page with pictures from the trip.

Supplies you will need:

-scrapbook page (of course)

-printed clipart—I used a country theme but you can choose any type you like.

-printed patterns of your choice (these can come from a magazine or other source)

-some red construction paper

-two pictures

To begin with, cut and crop all of your pictures to your liking.

Then, choose a complimentary color to mat the pictures with.

Trace the size and shape of your pictures onto your mat, leaving around ¼ inch around the size and cut them out.

Place your photos into your ‘trial’ layout. Make any necessary adjustments.

Paste your photos and mats into place.

Cut out small circles of red construction paper.

Draw faces on them as shown in the picture.

Paste them into place.

Place the page somewhere and allow to dry.

Place into your scrapbook binding after it has been allowed proper time to dry.

It’s that simple!!!

July 4th Layout

This is another fairly simple layout to get your feet wet. I suggest if you do not have the additional ‘stock’ images needed that you grab them online.

Supplies you will need:

-Patriotic stock imagery

-One enlarged landscape photo related to July 4th.

-Printed or drawn border for large photo.

To get started, cut and crop all of your pictures to your liking.

Then, choose a complimentary color to mat the pictures with (preferably one that ties in with the red, white and blue theme).

Trace the size and shape of your pictures onto your mat, leaving approximately ¼ inch around the size and cut them out.

Place your photos and stock imagery into your ‘trial’ layout. Make any necessary adjustments.

Paste your photos and mats into place.

Place the page somewhere and allow to dry.

Place into your scrapbook binding after it has been allowed proper time to dry.

You’re really moving right along. The purpose of these illustrations is not to confuse you, it is to get you started in the right direction where you can take on more complicated layouts.

Summer Fun Layout

I did this layout with my daughter Belle in mind. I had been doing a lot of pages for her brothers and decided to make one just for her.

Supplies you will need:

-Markers

-Construction Paper

-Three Photos (one large, two small)

-Two of the Ladybugs from the earlier layout

To begin with this layout, you should choose three words that signify summer to you. I let my son and he chose ‘summer, summer, and fun’

Take your markers and sketch-stamp a bit sloppily the three words onto mat board.

Crop and mat these words with multi-colored paper.

Crop your photos and mat them as well.

Paste everything into place once you have done a placement run-through.

So simple, yet it looks great. These layouts, in my opinion, are ideal.

Dinosaur Museum

This layout was done after we went to the local Science Museum and James asked if he could scrapbook his pictures from it.

This layout uses pre-made store-bought foam inserts that we picked out.

I usually use these type of accessories when he helps me because he is six and it helps him get the job done a little quicker.

Supplies you will need:

-Foam inserts (we used dinosaurs).

-One large picture.

-Construction paper for grass.

-Mat board to mat the picture with.

To begin, cut your photos and crop them, matting them and pasting them into place.

Take your green construction paper and cut ‘grass’ into it and paste it at the bottom of the page.

Now, simply place your dinosaurs and allow the creator to sign and title his accomplished piece.

HOW EASY WAS THAT??!!
