Once you have been scrapbooking for a very long time, you will eventually find yourself in the position of groping for ideas for new layouts.
If you stick to the traditional realms of scrapbooking (which. I may add, are becoming more and more less popular), then your choices within this area are going to be very limited.
It is my suggestion, however that rather then limiting yourself to predetermined scrapbook layout potentials that you open your mind up and consider more creative measures of creating scrapbook pages.
Truly, the only necessary
ingredients for a great scrapbook are photographs, memories, time, and
binding.
That’s it. Because scrapbooks are such a personal item, it is my opinion that the possibilities for scrapbook layouts are endless.
When first considering a new scrapbook layout, it is best to take a look at the photos that will be included in that layout.
Then, you can determine a conclusive theme or base on which to build on.
This is one reason I guess it seems silly to me that so many people complain of not being able to create good scrapbook page themes or layouts for themselves.
If you have a photo or, even better, a group of photos with which you intend to scrapbook, then it is my opinion that you already have some key indicators of a good theme.
Establish the theme of your pictures, and then begin considering creative ways in which to display those pictures. Try to tie your theme in along with them as much as possible.
Holiday themes are the easiest in my opinion. Anything related to the holidays in form of art or inclusions can become great building blocks for that particular page’s theme.
Kids, because they often times do not limit their creativity, are wonderful resources with which to design a layout.
Ask your children. Allow them to view the photos that you intend to use within the layout and see what they are able to come up with.
This is a wonderful way in which to involve your children and at the same time, come up with creative layouts for your scrapbooking pages that you yourself would not have thought up in a million years.
Developing new layouts can be challenging even to many long time scrap bookers.
There are many new resources that can help with creating new layout ideas if you are unable to do so on your own.
The first, and foremost, would be the Internet.
There is a quickly growing community of scrap bookers online. These forums or gathering places often have a specific area of their sites dedicated exclusively to design ideas.
Many of the ideas that are submitted are accompanied be step by step instructions and sometimes even visual guides.
Another great outlet for new layout ideas are scrapbooking magazines. Most of these publications feature at least one creative new layout theme each month.
Several of the more popular magazines offer even more featured layouts. These are another terrific resource for layout ideas.
Even if I do not use the particular theme featured every month, I do take the time to clip the articles out and add them to my layout design idea folder.
Finally, if you find yourself in need of layout ideas on a constant basis, there are even books and kits that you can purchase to give you ideas.
Some of the kits even include part of the supplies that the layouts entail.
Layout ideas are sometimes hard to come by but the resources listed should provide you a head start on finding new ideas and perhaps developing some of your own.
