Journaling blocks and tags are one of my favorite additions to my scrapbooking layouts.
I feel like journaling offers us a unique opportunity to record our thoughts, feelings, and other info that might not be able to be captured in a photograph.
Journaling is not difficult at all, although it is helpful if you put a little forethought into planned special events such as holidays or birthdays.
I keep a notebook dedicated specifically to journaling with me on special occasions and I just take a moment here and there to record small happenings and memories.

Sometimes, under hectic situations, I just jot notes down that I can embellish on later. Doing so can be very helpful when you finally get around to scrapbooking that particular event.
Rather then sitting there with a blank page, trying to remember details, you have a list of them to work from and your inclusions are probably going to be a bit more personal and detailed.
Adding your journaling to the actual scrapbook layout can be done in a variety of very creative ways.
If you intend on including a significant amount of journaling in your scrapbook, you might consider a theme based on a color or style of insert that will differentiate your journaling from other items included.
This turns your scrapbook into a story scrapbook where, while turning from page to page, you can read about memories and events rather then just viewing visual representations of them.
If you are a very tenacious journaling scrap booker, then many times you can encourage friends and family members to become involved with some of the journaling items as well.
By having them include some of their thoughts and memories, you are introducing another perspective into your scrapbook.
This is a great idea and is an ideal way to involve older children in the scrapbooking experience.
