These days, access to free scrapbooking ideas is widespread and easy to come
by. In the past, the search for free scrapbooking ideas was often left up to the
direction and creativity of a store bought manual or magazine. As scrapbooking’s
popularity has increased, so has the availability of suggestive materials and
tutorials on the subject.
Often times, newcomers to scrapbooking are made wary by the initial costs of
materials which professionals suggest one must invest in order to begin
scrapbooking. The truth of the matter being that initially all one needs in
order to create their first scrapbook is some pictures, paper, scissors, glue,
and a form of binding. A touch of creativity doesn’t hurt, of course. Once you
have gathered all of these things together, if you find yourself sitting at the
table looking at a blank page, don’t panic! There are many places where you can
boost your scrapbooking confidence and pick up some free scrapbooking ideas and
suggestions.
After you have in mind your basic composition or theme of your scrapbook, begin
with doing a quick search on the web for free scrapbooking ideas. You will find
a wealth of information is available and even more creative concepts to get your
own ideas flowing. Be sure to keep a piece of paper and pen handy so that when
you are struck by your own creative genius, you can quickly jot it down and
expand on it later.
Another great outlet for free scrapbooking ideas on the internet are forums.
There, you have the opportunity to meet and learn about others who scrapbook and
their styles and ingenuity. Many times, this is also a good place for newcomers
to come and ask questions if they are unsure of something, or perhaps need a
boost of encouragement to get started. Forums offer a great mix of information
and personality. If your interests are general, browse the site, sign up for the
newsletter, and take a peek through old posts. You will find the ‘search’ option
located in many forums is a powerful tool to help you find specific answers if
you are looking for a particular bit of information. If you are unable to find
the specific information you’re looking for, you can always post a question on
the message board and wait for a response. This option is one of the things that
makes forums and message boards so very helpful.
An additional resource and place to find free scrapbooking ideas is a local
scrapbooking group. That’s right! Many areas have groups or organizations
dedicated exclusively to people who scrapbook and to the exchange of free
scrapbooking ideas. Some groups even offer events such as featured speakers,
group scrapbooking activities, ect. This is a terrific resource if you have
difficulty getting started on your own.
If you are more of a self-starter and find my previous suggestions time too
consuming or maybe even unnecessary, then I would suggest that you begin your
search for free scrapbooking ideas in and around your own home. Your kitchen
offers a very unique variety of colors, textures, and combinations. Dig around
in your pasta shelf. Open up that old fabric chest in your living room. Put that
annoyingly large collection of odd buttons to use. You know that drawer where
you put everything that you treasure and don’t want damaged or lost? Any of
these places are great areas to look for inspiration.
There are many items in each and every person’s home that lend wonderful and
free scrapbooking ideas to all of us, from the novice to the expert scrapbook
keeper. It is this inspiration that I believe brings many of us to create our
own scrapbooks. Whether to catalogue an important event, or to portray or index
a family or loved one’s life, scrapbooks are almost always made for very
personal and sentimental reasons. What place could offer you more personal
influence and insight other then your own home? Dig around. The more innovative
and personal your design is, the more you will appreciate it in the future.
