Embellishing your scrapbook layout is like adding great accessories and cosmetics to a clothing outfit.
I preach that this is the time to let loose, not plan, and do something creative if you feel the urge.
I say this because your scrapbook’s essential elements are already in place and you cannot mess it up too bad from adding a few small touches.
The only important thing to remember at this stage is that simplicity creates great scrapbook pages and clutter makes messes of them.
Choose your embellishments fairly modestly and sparingly and place them in dynamic places all around your layout.
Some of the more popular and well-known embellishments:
-Borders
-Ribbons
-Punches
-Stickers
-Buttons
-Foam
All of these items are available pretty much at any arts and crafts department of most stores. Some will offer greater varieties then others.
Scrapbooking specialty stores
offer more elaborate embellishment choices, but they are often times more
expensive then department stores may be.
In my opinion, the embellishment that you should spend the most amount of time on should be the one that is located on the outside of your scrapbook.
Extra time and attention to this detail will increase the visual presentation of your photos in a wonderful way.
Fabric treatments, cross-stitched additions, ribbon art, and engraving all make great exterior embellishment choices for your scrapbook.
The front of the binder will be the first impression that everyone has of your book of memories.
Extremely decorative and creative covers make the entire book seem very put together and solidly structured.
Remember, you will be looking at this cover hopefully for a very long time. Do not be afraid to invest extra time, attention to detail, and money into its appearance.
