With the use of a stamp and some acid free ink, creating decorative accents for your page that compliment the photo designs can be fun and not too difficult.

A cheap way to do this is to create your stamps by cutting shapes and forms into halves of potatoes.

This is fairly simple to do, you can even trace them out before you cut them just to be sure they turn out well.

Always be sure to rinse to potato in water before using it to apply any ink or dyes so that the starch that is contained in the potato is not transferred onto your layout’s surface.

Chalking is another advanced scrapbooking technique.

Chalking works best when it is applied directly onto paper products. You can use this method to add extra dimension and highlights to the all of the paper-based sections of your scrapbook.

You can even apply this effect to photos that have been printed out on archival matte paper.

If you need to make any changes, make sure that you do so immediately and do not allow the chalk to sit because once it had set into the material, you can no longer erase it.

It you happen to use a pretty good amount of chalk on your photos or art, you can always seal it to prevent it from gradually rubbing off of the surface using a spray sealer such as polyurethane.

Never apply thick coats of this to any of your layouts because they might not dry as quickly as a thinner application would and the longer it takes them to dry, the more chance you run of them picking up lint on them or being accidentally pressed against something.
