Basically, all you need to scrapbook is an acid-free adhesive.
However, throughout the past few years as scrapbooking has increased in popularity, more and more specialty adhesives are becoming available to consumers.
Glue Dots are my personal favorites. They are generally used to position large, bulky and otherwise hard to adhere items such as embellishments, ribbons, silk flowers, ect. They come on a roll. You just pull them off and press them onto the item to be glued and place it directly onto your page. Be sure to place them carefully because after this type of adhesive is applied, you are unable to reposition it.
ThermO Web Keep a Memory comes to you in relatively small sheets and this type of application is nice for applying die-cut items such as photos and decorative pieces.
Hermafix: This tape roller comes in a plastic hand-held dispenser. I like it because it’s easy and fast to use. The adhesive is a dry microdot; it’s repositionable until it sits overnight and becomes permanent. It’s not messy—in fact, you can rub off any excess adhesive easily. A little pricier than other adhesives, but worth it!
Foam Mounting Tape: Is a great adhesive tool because it adds a little depth and dimension to all of the flat items in your scrapbook such as paper items and other accessories.
All of the above adhesives are specialty adhesives and I recommend that only moderately experienced scrap bookers try to implement them.
For the newbies, I suggest that they get started using photo tape or photo squares because they are most easily repositionable and they do not require any experience in order to know how to apply.
I dislike wet adhesive products and would not recommend the use of them to anyone while scrapbooking.
The application of these type of adhesives are permanent and will likely eventually cause harm to the picture itself due to their chemical composition
Rubber cement and glue sticks are common supplies that you will find in every scrapbooking area of a store although they really are not good choices for use, particularly with photos because of this reason.
